Art critic, journalist and TV presenter Andrew Graham-Dixon will talk about careers in the arts industry in the latest instalment of the University of Lincoln’s Great Minds guest lecture series.

Andrew, who has presented landmark programmes on art for the BBC, including the acclaimed A History of British Art, Renaissance, and Art of Eternity, as well as a host of documentaries on art and artists, said his talk will aim to inspire the next generation of art lovers to follow their passion.

His talk will take place at 6pm on Tuesday 10th November 2015 on the University’s Brayford Pool Campus. He will be the third of ten high-profile guest speakers lined up for the 2015/16 Great Minds season. Admission is free but booking is essential. Priority will be given to parties from UK schools and colleges.

“I’m really pleased to have been invited, and I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences of the ups and downs of a life spent writing and talking about art,” said Andrew, who has judged the Turner Prize, the BP National Portrait Prize and the Annual British Animation Awards. Andrew is also an acclaimed author, having penned books on subjects ranging from medieval painting and sculpture to the art of the present, and previously published a weekly column on art in both the Independent and the Sunday Telegraph. He has also served on the Government Art Collection Committee and the Hayward Advisory Committee.

The University of Lincoln’s Great Minds series aims to provide young people with inspirational insights into different aspects of society – from the entertainment world to elite sport. This year’s season has already included TV presenter and Naturalist Chris Packham, as well as TV presenter and tech guru Jason Bradbury. Upcoming speakers include Speaker of the House of Commons the Right Honourable John Bercow MP; and crime writer Ann Cleeves, among others.
