Parents and carers are being invited to join the University of Lincoln for a special information evening about how to support and advise children applying to university.
The event is designed for parents whose children are currently in secondary school, sixth form or college and are thinking about degree level study among their future options. It takes place on Wednesday 1st February 2017 from 5pm until 7pm in the Minerva Building on the University’s Brayford Pool Campus.
The event will include an explanation of the UCAS application process and university entry requirements, including tips on preparing a personal statement. There will also be talks on a range of topics such as student accommodation, fees and finance and student life from a parent’s perspective.
The evening will close with a question and answer session with representatives from the University giving parents the opportunity to ask any further questions.
“Choosing the right university and course is a big decision,” said Emma Jubbs, Head of Undergraduate Recruitment at the University of Lincoln. “Many prospective students understandably look to their parents for help and advice but it can be a daunting process for them too.
“Our Parents’ Information Evening aims to help prepare parents for those conversations, giving them the knowledge they need to support their children on all aspects of the application process, from researching different institutions and courses, to visiting open days and completing their UCAS application.”
