National awards for excellence in journalism have recognised the best new talent in the industry with the most promising careers ahead of them.
Graduates from the University of Lincoln were among those in the spotlight at The National Council for the Training of Journalists Awards for Excellence in London this week.
Judges were impressed by hard-hitting journalistic content across a range of areas by the graduates including the BHS pension controversy and arranged marriage. They faced stiff competition with approximately 300 entries.
All three graduates are currently working in the industry, in line with 95% of the University’s most recent graduates being either in work or further study six months after finishing their course.
Deborah Wilson David, Deputy Head for the School of English and Journalism said: “I am delighted that three of our students won awards last night, including two first places. Journalism at Lincoln is taught in the context of real world journalism with a digital newsroom culture. Students use the latest mobile technology and produce broadcast content in digital radio and TV studios. This year they have had opportunities to work with and learn from many leading practitioners such as Chris Packham. This is only our second year of entering these awards and I am delighted that the students have done so well.”
