Students Have a Great Experience at Lincoln

The University of Lincoln has been ranked 23rd in the UK in a survey of students’ opinions about their experience at university.

Professor Mary Stuart, Vice Chancellor for the University of Lincoln, said: “We are delighted that our drive to offer the best student experience possible has been recognised with these results. At the University of Lincoln we have a strong partnership with our students, engaging them in all aspects of student life.

“It’s satisfying to see that our efforts have been reflected in a prestigious national university ranking, and most importantly, to see how that effort is valued here on campus by our students.”

Carried out by youth research agency YouthSight, the 2018 Times Higher Education’s Student Experience Survey examined the opinions of more than 20,000 undergraduates on a range of topics. These included academic experience, university facilities, societal experience, student welfare, accommodation, industry connections, and security.

The University of Lincoln saw a rise in its ranking for all areas and was placed in 23rd position out of 116 institutions.

The institution was placed as 10th best in the UK for university facilities. That ranking is awarded based on students being asked how strongly they agreed that their university had high-quality, centralised, convenient, and cheap facilities, a good library, good sports facilities.

This latest rise in national league tables follows on from the jump to 47th place in the Guardian University Guide 2018, and a top ten ranking for student satisfaction by postgraduate and international students in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2017.

Grace Corn, a third year BA (Hons) International Relations and Politics student, said that the results are exciting for Lincoln. “The University and the Students’ Union have without a doubt pushed me to grow and challenge myself personally, whilst also empowering and enabling me to make a difference and contribute to the wider student community.

“I have made friends for life, and pushed myself towards accomplishing goals which I once would never have dreamed of setting. I have had the most incredible time at Lincoln over the past three years, and feel that my amazing experience here has not only shaped the career which I will go on to pursue, but has also shaped me as an individual. Our rise up the league table validates all of the hard work which students and staff across the university and Students’ Union have been pouring into our beautiful campus, now renowned for excellent teaching, amazing facilities, and a thriving student community.”
