UNESCO Partners with Lincoln to Work on Sustainable Future

The University of Lincoln, UK, has signed up to a partnership with UNESCO to focus on sustainable development in the Lincoln International Business School.

The UNESCO Chair programme brings together academics from the school led by Professor Ted Fuller and is aimed at working in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to address global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, peace and justice.

The University’s role in the project is to facilitate research and learning that will support the activities of global partners in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Arab States, Latin America and North America. It is hoped that these collaborations will influence the implementation of sustainable development activities within each project.

Professor Fuller said: “Our academics bring expertise ranging from post-conflict community based research through to women’s health education, enterprise, anti-corruption and eco-tourism to the programme and discussions are ongoing with projects with partners from Bangladesh, Colombia, Finland, India, Italy, Jordan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Romania, South Africa, Tunisia, USA and Uruguay.

“We will be responsible for looking forwards but also for considering the present and what can be done to inspire responsible actions in the here and now. The hope is that by working with our global partners, the outcomes will help people to create a stronger sense of possibility and self-belief by discovering what should and could be done to improve human flourishing.”
