One of Britain’s most popular and critically acclaimed poets will be sharing her expertise and reading a selection of her work for prospective students this weekend.

Former poet laureate Dame Carol Ann Duffy is a Visiting Artist at the University of Lincoln and will be joining their Virtual Open Day on Saturday 14 November. This live online event offers prospective students and their families the opportunity to experience the University of Lincoln from the comfort of their own homes, meet students and staff, and discover why Lincoln has been crowned Modern University of the Year by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021.

It is part of a fantastic new range of online resources including the Lincoln on Demand service and the Lincoln Live Lounge series of talks by experts and celebrity guests.

Elly Sample, Director of Communications, Development and Marketing, said: “At the University of Lincoln, we believe the future is what you make it and that no one should have to put their ambitions on hold during these unfamiliar times. Despite the restrictions to everyday life, our Virtual Open Day is an ideal way to start planning an exciting future in higher education.

“We are delighted that Dame Carol Ann Duffy will be sharing some of her poems with us this weekend. The arts have helped many of us to stay positive during recent months and we would love to hear how art has helped young people during the pandemic and periods of national lockdown.

“We encourage people to share videos and pictures of their own artwork, performances or writing with us, to help spread some joy.”

The creative community at the University of Lincoln frequently showcase their talents to the wider community, during events such as the Festival of Creativity which went all-online over the summer. Several pieces of student work were featured on BBC Radio Lincolnshire, including a musical performance by now alumna Millie Houchen.

To share your creative work with us, tag us or send a direct message to our official @unilincoln social media accounts on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.
