Students can continue to benefit from a variety of opportunities to get involved with Lincoln City Football Club and enjoy sport in the city, as the University of Lincoln becomes a Platinum Plus Partner of the club.

In recent years the University and Lincoln City FC have enjoyed an enterprising relationship, with students gaining real-world experience while providing expertise to the club in areas including performance analysis, sports therapy and massage, as well as learning from the management team through guest lectures.

The hugely popular Uni Imps scheme enables staff and students to buy discounted tickets to home league games, encouraging students to visit the LNER Stadium and inspiring a new generation of Imps fans in their home from home. As part of the renewed partnership, the Lincoln City FC website will have an exclusive page for University of Lincoln students and staff with competitions, one community values, merchandise and a range of exciting activities.

Ian Hodson, the University’s Head of Reward and Benefits, said: “Our relationship with the football club is incredibly important to us. It is great to be connecting our students and staff as part of creating one community in our city.

“I’m looking forward to exploring ways in which we can continue to build on our relationship, supporting each other with the delivery of academic activities, along with exploring some of the fun aspects we can bring to student life.”

Abi Brown, Vice President Activities at Lincoln Students’ Union, said: “This partnership is providing valuable and exciting opportunities for our students to create a new community within Lincoln. “It will open up a huge array of opportunities in all aspects of social and physical wellbeing, which we know is vital in the current circumstances.

“We are extremely excited to see how this will develop and grow over the next year and we hope many of our students take part virtually, and hopefully, before long can get down to the ground.”

Andrew Whitham, Head of Commercial at Lincoln City FC, added: “We have a fantastic relationship with the University of Lincoln which spans across the whole club. They have been extremely supportive and I am really looking forward to seeing our partnership flourish.”
