From the fall of the Berlin Wall and the release of Nelson Mandela, to the War in Iraq and Barack Obama’s inauguration, legendary journalist Jon Snow has reported on some of the biggest new stories of the last three decades.

Best known as the longest serving presenter of Channel 4 News, Jon will share his experiences and advice as part of the hugely popular Live Lounge series hosted by the University of Lincoln, UK, on Wednesday 21st April 2021.

Schoolchildren, sixth formers and college students are invited to submit their questions for the chance to meet the renowned broadcaster, whose accolades include Royal Television Society awards for Journalist of the Year (2006) and Presenter of the Year (2009), as well as a BAFTA Fellowship (2015).

Emma Jubbs, the University’s Assistant Director of Recruitment, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Jon to the Lincoln Live Lounge to hear more about his amazing career in broadcasting.

“Jon is used to interviewing some of the biggest names in politics, sport and entertainment, so we’re very excited to offer viewers the chance to turn the tables by joining our live stream and asking him the questions. Perhaps you’d like to know about his favourite interview or find out his top tips for a career in journalism – this is a unique opportunity to hear from an industry expert.”

Students are invited to submit their questions by emailing pressoffice@lincoln.ac.uk.

Jon said: “I’m very pleased to be joining the Lincoln Live Lounge. I’ve been involved with education in various capacities for many years and relish the opportunity to share my thoughts and knowledge with young people, and I’m very much looking forward to being interviewed by the next generation of journalists.”

The Lincoln Live Lounge series offers a host of educational and entertaining talks from special guests alongside University of Lincoln staff, students and alumni. Taking place every Wednesday afternoon, audiences can follow along live at home on our website, YouTube or social media, and ask questions in the chat for real-time answers from our expert panel.

All talks are available to catch up on via the University’s Lincoln On Demand service.

The 2021 series kicked off with teachers turned football managers Danny and Nicky Cowley leading a popular three-part masterclass in leadership, teamwork and performance analysis, followed by a thought-provoking discussion with TV star and the country’s newly appointed Youth Mental Health Ambassador, Dr Alex George.
