From topping the music charts to protecting the environment, top guest speakers from an array of industries and professions will share secrets of success in a new series of livestreamed, interactive events for young people.
The University of Lincoln has unveiled the latest line-up of guests in its Lincoln Live Lounge series of weekly online talks on topics linked to education, skills, careers, well-being and social action.
From big issues like the fight against climate change and the importance of education to tackling inequality, to practical tips and advice on applying to university and taking those first steps on the career ladder, the series enables audiences to engage directly in real-time with on-screen guests.
DJ, producer and music technologist Craig Bratley launches the summer 2021 series of Live Lounge events on Wednesday 2nd June in a session dedicated to music industry careers. In his Live Lounge set, Craig – whose latest release reached number one of the Juno Download dub charts – will share insights from his insider view as both a creator and an educator.
Later the same month former Poet Laureate Dame Carol Ann Duffy will reveal winners of the University’s Pandemic Poetry Competition (15 June); then on 23 June Diane Lees CBE, the first female Director of Imperial War Museums, will be in conversation on the power of education to drive positive change.
Lincoln’s Professor Daniel Mills, an internationally renowned specialist in animal behaviour, will host a special edition for animal lovers on the unique connection between humans and their pets (7 July).
Naturalist and broadcaster Chris Packham will join the Live Lounge on 4 August for a discussion on the global environmental crisis and how people can change the world. The following day (5 August) UK youth mental ambassador Dr Alex George will return to the Live Lounge to talk about how students can prepare for university ahead of A-level Results Day.
Elly Sample, Director of Communications, Development and Marketing at the University of Lincoln said: “Our Lincoln Live Lounge series has let us to bring audiences together with brilliant guest speakers representing a whole spectrum of different industries and interests through live, interactive livestreams you can take part in from your laptop, tablet or mobile phone. We can’t wait to kick off the summer season.”
The Lincoln Live Lounge takes place each Wednesday, 5pm – 6pm, and is free to join online where audience members can pose questions directly to livestream studio guests through social media and YouTube.
Each session is also available to watch again through the Lincoln on Demand online platform.
Past online guest speakers have included football managers Danny and Nicky Cowley, legendary news reader Jon Snow, and radio and TV star Clara Amfo, as well as experts from across the University’s academic departments.
