University students, including new first years, will have the opportunity to discover a ‘missing millennium’ of history on an archaeological dig with Time Team‘s Professor Carenza Lewis this autumn.
The University of Lincoln will offer students in its School of History and Heritage the opportunity to take part in an archaeological ‘test pit’ dig at Riseholme, the University’s beautiful countryside campus near Lincoln.
Digging in small teams, students will have the opportunity to make new discoveries from sites which have never been explored before.
Professor Carenza Lewis, well known for her time on the hit Channel 4 show Time Team, joined the University of Lincoln in 2015 as Professor of Public Understanding of Research. She said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for students to get hands-on experience of an archaeological excavation and learn how physical evidence helps historical research. It’s also a great chance to meet fellow staff and students and build the transferable skills that will prove valuable throughout their studies and their future careers.
“I can’t wait to explore the beautiful site at Riseholme to see what history we can uncover, looking for a ‘missing millennium’ of Anglo-Scandinavian history between the known Roman and medieval sites there.”
Students can register their interest to take part by completing this form.
