Fine Art students from the University of Lincoln (UK) will host a unique exhibition showcasing works created in collaboration with individuals recovering from addiction.

Titled Groundings: The Four Tables, the exhibition has been created by a group of second year Fine Art students in partnership with charities Double Impact and We Are With You; helping to aid individuals with their recovery through expressive art.

The exhibition takes advantage of the unique collaboration, with the University of Lincoln being the only university in the UK to offer an undergraduate Fine Art course that provides experience within the art therapy sector.

Speaking about the process of bringing together the exhibition, the students behind the project, said: “It’s been so rewarding to be part of the team that has brought Groundings: The Four Tables to life. It’s been really special to work alongside two wonderful organisations, and to help them and the individuals they work with in their recovery.”

“We’ve already received some fantastic feedback, with individuals we’ve worked with commenting that this course has opened their eyes to what art is, and they can’t wait to share their work with the public.”

A spokesperson from Double Impact who has worked on the project commented: “I have always used art in my own life, and I believe it to be one of the greatest forms of therapeutic value for myself – but to be a part of the way that it has completely transformed, inspired and empowered each individual in different ways. Groundings: The Four Tables has by far been one of my most rewarding moments at Double Impact to date. I am incredibly proud to have been a part of this project.”

Groundings: The Four Tables opens on Tuesday May 24th at 5:30pm and runs until Sunday 29th May, 2022 at Project Space Plus on the University of Lincoln’s Brayford Pool Campus.
