Simon Duffy MBE, founder of Bulldog Skincare Ltd, delivered a keynote speech to a conference dedicated to inspiring student entrepreneurship that also showcased variety of free business incubation services available in Lincoln.

The conference was part of an ongoing wider commitment by the University of Lincoln, UK, to support business enterprise in the city and region.

During the Student Enterprise Conference, Simon encouraged students to make the most of the business services on offer at the University and said: “I’d encourage all Lincoln students to think about entrepreneurship, either straight after university or at some point in their careers. It’s really important when you’re at a university that offers such a diverse range of entrepreneurial services to take full advantage of it.

Attendees were also able to gain expert marketing and business insight from Simon Akers, founder of Lincoln-based marketing agency, Archmon, as well as hearing from a guest panel of University of Lincoln graduates who are all successful business owners.

The conference was held as part of a year-long series of events to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the University’s business support centre, Sparkhouse, which acts as a gateway between the institution and the local business community.

The Sparkhouse hub offers a wide range of support services to new and established businesses in Lincolnshire, as well as students at the University, for up to three years after they graduate.

Speaking about the support available at Sparkhouse, the University’s Industrial Contracts Marketing Manager, Charlotte Kirton-Cook said: “Our Business Incubation team would be delighted to hear from early-stage businesses seeking to join the dynamic Sparkhouse community as a physical or virtual tenant. As well as the facilities on offer, we’ve got an exciting calendar of both developmental and social events to take part in, as well as a great range of mentors with diverse expertise to support you on your journey.

The programme of anniversary events will be available online in the coming weeks: www.sparkhouselincoln.co.uk/events/.
