On Sunday 16 April 2023, students and staff members from the University of Lincoln, UK, were crowned the winners of the City of Lincoln 10k Team Challenge.
Pounding the streets of Lincoln, the team of mixed ability runners not only successfully completed the City’s 10k race, but also took part in the Team Challenge, which saw them battle it out against other competitors to collectively cross the finish line in the quickest combined time.
Ian Hodson, Head of Rewards and Director of People, Place and Culture at the University, said: “Embracing opportunities to join our University community together are really important to celebrate, particularly as we now work in more hybrid ways.
“It was so amazing to see so many members of our university community enjoying the event from not only a positive wellbeing perspective but also the supportive aspects that the RunForAll Lincoln 10k facilitates. As an organisation, we are delighted to partner the Team Challenge that allows the facilitation of that opportunity for other businesses and groups.”
Jo Hinman, Senior Administrator and PA at the University said: “I couldn’t be more proud of each and every member of our team for taking part in this year’s City of Lincoln 10k! This year’s team was made up of staff and students from across the University and their family and friends – runners, walkers, some taking part in their first ever 10k, as well as some more experienced and competitive runners.
It’s this mix that really does make our team such a unique, welcoming and supportive community. Our aim is to encourage everyone to give it a go, regardless of their ability, and so we hope to recruit an even larger team for next April’s Lincoln 10k!”
