University and Chamber of Commerce to Help Lincolnshire Businesses’ Sustainability and Environmental Goals

Small to medium enterprises (SMEs) in Lincolnshire will be able to submit a free application to receive expert business support.

A new scheme aims to develop and implement Innovate UK-funded environmental, social, and governance (ESG) accreditation for businesses and self-assessment tool to help them achieve it.

The collaboration between the University of Lincoln, UK, and the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce will take the form of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP). The University’s KTP programme helps businesses to grow by improving their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology, and skills. It offers an opportunity to collaborate with academic teams from the University to support the delivery of business initiatives.

The KTP is available in partnership with the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce, to both members and non-members of the Chamber, supported by academic expertise from the University to embed the knowledge needed to create and maintain a digital self-assessment tool. This tool will enable businesses to evaluate and enhance their environmental, social, and governance performance.

Businesses who engage with this KTP will have an opportunity to improve their competitive advantage by advancing sustainability performance and positively contributing to improving the environment, attracting conscious consumers and investors who prioritise responsible operations.

The new services provided through the project will shine a light on the benefits of a membership with the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce; joining a strong and collaborative business network which has been active for more than 130 years and exists to help organisations across the county to grow.

With micro-sized enterprises facing many challenges in accessing the necessary skills and resources to stay at the forefront of modern business practices, this KTP opportunity aims to bridge this gap, with sustainability as a key focus. These efforts are in line with the Government’s commitment to promote sustainable business practices and achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
