A Lincolnshire business founded by a University of Lincoln, UK, graduate has been named the UK’s “Great Place to Work 2023”, in the national Engage Awards for its dedication to company culture and employee wellbeing.

Gemma Price is the founder of HubGem Marketing Ltd which provides specialist CRM software solutions for education providers across the world.

The awards category of “Great Place to Work” recognises organisations that have implemented an effective strategy to create an excellent working environment and can demonstrate improved employee engagement and experience.

HubGem places a strong emphasis on offering dozens of supportive and innovative initiatives to employees. From paid time off to focus on wellbeing activities, to subscriptions to meditation apps, monthly fitness challenges, and a culture designed to empower employees.

Gemma Price, CEO and founder of HubGem, said: “The degree I studied at the University of Lincoln attracted me as it covered so many exciting topics across a range of media disciplines. I wasn’t sure, back when I started my studies, quite which path I wanted to take and the modules in BA (Hons) Media Production were a mixture of technical, creative and theory.

“Following university, I began a career in local radio but soon became attracted to the education sector and set off on a new path before starting HubGem in 2019. Throughout every role I’ve had since graduating, my skills from my degree have been key to my success; from the technical skills such as using industry-standard media editing software, to the writing skills and creative skills.

“One key thing which really sticks with me from my degree was the focus on networking and getting to know people across various media disciplines – I still keep in touch with some of these contacts today because when growing a business, networking is key.

“My experience at the University of Lincoln provided me with confidence and lifelong skills that I use every day in growing my business.”

The Engage Awards are the UK’s only awards programme which celebrate achievements across the spectrum of customer and employee engagement and a record number of entries from the UK were received in 2023.
