6 March 2025

Members of the newly-formed Sustainability and Social Impact Forum gathered outside the Isaac Newton Building this afternoon, Wednesday 6 March, to raise the flag of the United Nations Sustainable Goals (SDG).

The flag-raising symbolises the University of Lincoln’s commitment to the UN SDGs, and commemorated the SDG Teach-in, running at the University throughout March.

The SDG Teach-In encourages students and colleagues to look at each of the UN Sustainability Development Goals in a series of teaching sessions. Learning about SDGs gives everyone the chance to equip themselves with the tools and knowledge to incorporate sustainability into their daily lives, and all colleagues and students can get involved.

Present at the flag-raising were Rebecca Mills, Head of Sustainability, Professor Libby John, Dean of Sustainability, Professor Abigail Moriarty, Pro Vice Chancellor Education, alongside several students committed to sustainability.

Libby John, Dean of Sustainability said:

“I am delighted that we are able to show our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by flying this flag during March.  The Sustainable Development Goals set out an ambition for a better world for everyone.

“All colleagues and students can contribute to them and we have an incredible track record of doing so across the university.  March 2025 is ‘SDG Teach-in’ month and I’d love to hear about relevant learning and action that is taking place in formal and informal settings anywhere at The University of Lincoln.”
