The University of Lincoln, UK, has been shortlisted for two national awards, for its student accommodation and wellbeing support at the prestigious WhatUni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs) 2025.

This follows the institution’s success at the 2024 WUSCAs, as Lincoln was the top university in the country for its accommodation, coming 1st in the Halls and Student Accommodation category.

In 2023, the Global Student Living Index certified the Lincoln’s accommodation as GOLD, based on the condition and quality, value for money, care and support, recycling and environmental facilities, and overall management of its residences.

The University has also been shortlisted in the WUSCAs Submission-based Award, which this year, is focused on Mental Health and Wellbeing Support. UK institutions had to showcase the ways they are working to support and improve the mental health and wellbeing of their students, identifying their needs, and measuring the impact.

In 2023, Julie Spencer, Head of Wellbeing at the University, was named in the New Years’ Honours list for her services to education and was awarded an MBE for being a constant champion of students and for her support of their physical and mental wellbeing.

Julie and her team have been responsible for sector leading projects to support students before they join the University and beyond their stay at Lincoln, including the commissioning of a full-time dedicated University Police officer, and a Sexual Violence Liaison Officer working within student wellbeing. Julie has also worked with regional partners and teams across the University including Lincoln Students’ Union to pro-actively tackle drink spiking, and her work in this area has been replicated across the country at other universities.

The WhatUni Awards are the UK’s largest source of real and honest reviews directly received from students and is the only higher education awards ceremony in the UK where institutions are judged and voted for exclusively by students across various categories.

At last year’s WUSCAs, the University of Lincoln was also awarded 2nd in the UK for International, 2nd in the UK for Postgraduate, 3rd for University of the Year, 3rd in the UK for Student Life, 3rd in the UK for Facilities, and 4th in the UK for Student Support.
