Lincoln Racing, the University of Lincoln team entering the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Formula Student competition, will be sponsored for the 2025 season by leading software and computational intelligence firm, Altair.

Altair are recognised as an industry leader and are trusted by over 16,000 of the world’s leading organisations, including the likes of Aston Martin, BMW, and Bosch.

The Lincoln Racing team look forward to utilising Altair’s Academic Edition license bundle, which includes solutions such as the Altair® HyperWorks® design and simulation platform and the Altair® RapidMiner® data analytics and AI platform, the same solutions used by Formula One (F1) teams.

Altair’s dynamic, collaborative simulation, data analytics, AI, and high-performance computing (HPC) and cloud resources will significantly enhance Lincoln Racing’s productivity and workflows.

Dylan Beanlands, Team Principal for Lincoln Racing commented: “We’re delighted and honoured to have Altair on board as a key sponsor for our team for the 2025 Formula Student season. We’re excited to learn more about how we can incorporate their cutting-edge software into our day-to-day workings, as well as consolidating the skills learned into our studies and research, setting the foundations for the team’s future.

“Altair platforms’ ease of use and support means all our team members will have the ability to streamline their workflows and enrich their learning experience. This hands-on experience was a key motivator as to why we were so inclined to enter the competition in the first place.”

Paul Kirkham, Academic Manager at Altair, added: “Altair’s technology is widely used in the professional world, but we want to go one step further and introduce it to students early in their journey.

“By providing access to our tools at the university level, we help equip future engineers with the skills and experience they need to hit the ground running when they enter their profession and become real-world ready. We’re excited to support Lincoln Racing and look forward to seeing how they leverage our solutions in the Formula Student competition.”
