The University of Lincoln, UK, is celebrating success at the prestigious WhatUni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs) 2025, having been awarded silver in the Mental Health and Wellbeing Support category.

The WhatUni Awards reflect the voices and experiences of students across the country and are the only higher education awards in the UK where institutions are judged and voted for exclusively by students across various categories.

The University of Lincoln’s successes mark an outstanding achievement for the organisation which continues to lead the way in delivering high-quality, student-centred services.

The University won silver the WUSCAs Submission-based Award, which this year focused on Mental Health and Wellbeing Support, requiring institutions to showcase the ways they are working to support and improve the mental health and wellbeing of their students.

The University of Lincoln’s submission showcased a broad range of sector leading initiatives aimed at ensuring every student feels supported throughout their time at university and beyond which have been developed by Head of Student Wellbeing, Julie Spencer MBE, and her team.

These include introducing a dedicated University Police Officer, appointing a Sexual Violence Liaison Officer, and co-developing campaigns with Lincoln Students’ Union to address key student safety issues such as drink spiking. Many of these initiatives have since been adopted at universities nationwide.

Director of Student Services, Jacqueline Drury, said: “We are absolutely delighted to win silver at the WhatUni Award for Mental Health and Wellbeing Support. This is a tremendous achievement, and we couldn’t be prouder. Our success is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and expertise of our staff. It is their unwavering commitment to supporting our students that makes the University of Lincoln such a special place and their passion for helping students is what sets us apart.

“We strive to create an environment where students feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to achieve their best, and this recognition is a reflection of those efforts. We are truly proud of the community we have built here at Lincoln which is a great place for students to learn, grow, and thrive.”
