An exciting new scholarship has been announced which will see a university student receive comprehensive financial, educational and work placement support from one of Lincoln’s leading independent businesses.
As part of a partnership between Ruddocks Design & Print and the University of Lincoln, the scholarship is worth £9,000 over three years of undergraduate study. The successful scholarship winner will also receive weekly mentoring from the business, regular work experience and placement opportunities, and a potential permanent role with the company after graduation.
The Ruddocks Marketing Excellence Scholarship will be awarded to one student enrolling on the BA (Hons) Advertising & Marketing programme in the Lincoln International Business School in September 2017. Paul Banton, Managing Director of Ruddocks, and Dr Craig Marsh, Pro Vice Chancellor and Director of the Lincoln International Business School at the University of Lincoln, attended a ceremony to officially sign the new partnership agreement on Tuesday 14th June 2017.
Paul Banton said: “At Ruddocks we are really looking forward to welcoming our first student on this new scholarship scheme. It represents an extremely positive opportunity for our business, for the University, and especially for the successful student. As well as the valuable financial support they’ll receive to help them with their studies, they will also truly experience the world of work and will receive one-to-one mentoring on a weekly basis from colleagues working within the industry. The scholarship will absolutely fit around University study, and it will encourage the student to really engage with our business and come out of their three-year degree ready to work.
“It is our ambition that the student’s six-month placement at the end of their scholarship will ultimately turn into a permanent position with Ruddocks. As well as being delighted to support talent from our local university, we see this scholarship as an important pipeline for gifted graduate employees with fresh ideas, who understand our business and know how we work.”
The recipient of the Ruddocks Marketing Excellence Scholarship will receive £3,000 per academic year throughout their three year course, attend weekly term-time experience sessions with Ruddocks, complete work experience placements throughout their programme, and have the opportunity to complete paid work during university holidays.
Dr Craig Marsh said: “We are delighted to grow our partnership with Ruddocks, which is a fantastic example of a thriving business within our region. This scholarship will provide so many valuable opportunities – from learning about different areas of business and developing marketing campaigns, to creating plans for external customers and participating in business meetings and pitches.
It really will provide an insight into client relationship management and new business development, which will be vital when they enter the world of work following their graduation in three years time.”
Students embarking on the Advertising & Marketing degree course this year will be invited to apply for the scholarship via a letter of application and an interview, with the Ruddocks scholarship commencing in November 2017.
