The longstanding partnership between the University of Lincoln, UK and Lincoln City Football Club is continuing to flourish, with the University becoming the team’s front of shirt sponsor for the new away shirt for the 2023/24 season.
The University’s association with Lincoln City FC is well established, having sponsored the front of unique white and teal third shirt worn by The Imps last season, as well as sponsoring the club’s popular fan village.
The University also sponsor their own stand at Lincoln City’s LNER Stadium which has helped the club to facilitate their Blue Light and armed forces ticket offer to help make watching the Imps more accessible.
The football club has also benefited from the academic expertise and facilities at the University in recent years, and in turn, students have been afforded a variety of opportunities on account of the enterprising relationship. These range from gaining real-life experience – providing and practising expertise at the club, from performance analysis and coaching, sports therapy and massage, to learning about and practising the business of professional sport.
Vice Chancellor of the University of Lincoln, Professor Neal Juster, said: “The University and the football club are important contributors to and influencers of economic and social activity in the region. We have a shared sense of responsibility to our community. We are extremely proud of the University’s ongoing association with Lincoln City FC. Our long lasting commitment to the partnership is bearing fruit for both organisations.
“The club benefits from the University’s expertise and facilities, and in turn our students are afforded brilliant opportunities to gain experience in a professional sports environment, with many of our graduates going on to work for the club in a variety of roles.”
The Imps have already launched their home and goalkeeper shirts for the new campaign, with the away shirt also set to be revealed in the coming days.
Lincoln City’s director of sales, Andrew Whitham, said: “Our relationship with the University of Lincoln continues to grow and the support they have provided since becoming partners can be seen right across the club.
“We have worked closely with them on a number of projects in recent years which have seen their students complete placements with us in communications, first-team and academy settings.
“The club and university also collaborate in other areas such as recruitment and marketing, which has helped to add value to both parties.
“We are delighted to have them on the front of our new away shirt and look forward to continue working with them moving forwards.”
