The University of Lincoln, UK’s Brayford Campus will become a Frequency Festival ‘Campus Zone’ from 26-29 October 2023, showcasing unique works from international and local artists. Free and open to all, Threshold Studios encourage you to explore the interactive events and installations covering both the Campus Zone and the Discovery Zone that spans across other areas of the city centre.

The University is a partner to the event which celebrates innovative art overlapping across virtually all disciplines whether that is design, engineering, computer science, psychology or theatre. This year’s theme of Emergence offers a fresh take on how digital culture can breathe into public spaces and foster more inclusive cultural experiences by bringing people together.

Professor Abigail Woods, Pro Vice Chancellor and Head of College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, said: “The University of Lincoln is delighted to contribute to the 2023 Frequency International Festival of Digital Culture, and to support its mission to transform the city through innovative, digital artistic creations.”

Through a varied programme of installations, performances and immersive experiences, visitors are invited to create, learn and play, as well as engaging with timely themes such as the impact of AI, genetic selection, and how humans can co-exist with the natural environment.

Festival Creative Director, Samantha Lindley comments: “Throughout the 12 years of the festival, we’ve consistently seen the positive impact it plays in connecting us with our towns and cities by transforming our day-to-day experiences.

“The festival is open to everyone, and we continue to be grateful to our funders, partners and collaborators for supporting and enabling this to happen and for the audiences who bring it to life. The enthusiasm and joy for past festivals makes us all determined to make this festival our best.”

Saturday at the festival is a family-focused day where children can engage in an array of activities at the Lincoln Arts Centre ranging from the Digi Diddy Disco to the Touch and Glow digital interactive performance project designed for children aged 0-5 which has an emphasis on inclusivity and collaboration.

Peter Knott, Area Director, Arts Council England said: “We’re really pleased to support Frequency Festival in returning to Lincoln for four days this October for their 12-year anniversary, when a fusion of art and technology will transform the city.”

“I look forward to once again seeing the historic city merge with the very best of digital culture and creativity.”
